When should I place my order?
"When should I place my order"? This is a question we hear from customers
every
day. Many brides have been bridesmaids in other weddings
and
are used to going to a bridal
shop, placing an order, and then waiting several
weeks for the dresses to arrive. "The Brides
Store" does not operate that way.
We
only sell what we have hanging on our racks. We keep
an extremely large
inventory of dresses in our warehouse, so we often have exactly what
the
customer is
looking for in our hanging stock. And, we usually ship them within a day of taking the
order. However, when we are out of a particular item, we can only
suggest a different style or color that we do have hanging. WE ONLY SELL
WHAT WE HAVE HANGING ON THE
RACK WHEN THE CUSTOMER
CALLS.
When brides call to check stock and say "When should I place my order?", we
respond
by saying, "If they are here now, we suggest
you purchase them,
because they may not be
here the next time you call". We had a bride call to
check the stock of 403 in Black. We had a
nice selection, about ten
pieces in
each size. Because we had a nice selection, the bride
decided to call back and
order at a later date. About a week later, we sold almost 100 pieces
of black 403
to a college choir. When the Bride called back to place the order, we were out
of
stock on most sizes. Of course when we run out of a style, we
immediately try to order more. However, many times we are not able
to get more. We purchase very large runs of each style we carry.
That is how we can sell the dresses at such low prices. Many of these purchases are one time purchases from manufacturers that
we have contracted with both in the United States and abroad. When
we call to get more, they may no longer have the fabric to produce a
particular style. Therefore, we may no longer be able to get
more of that same style. And if we are able to get more, we never know
exactly when we will receive
the dresses that are put into production. It often takes three or four months
to receive orders from the factories. We have even had orders
from overseas that got lost in shipping that we never received at all.
For this reason, we
never make
promises about when or if we are going to receive items that we
are out
of. WE ONLY SELL WHAT WE HAVE IN STOCK THE DAY
YOU CALL.
If we have them in stock, we pull
them off the rack and pack them
for shipping. If we do
not have them in stock, we can only suggest a
different size, style, or color.
